MSNBC and BusinessWeek are running an article entitled Cars that drive themselves are not far off.

While it is still impossible to give a specific year for the fulfillment of the NoMoreDriving.org dream, it is clearly coming and coming fast.

GM: Self-Driving Cars by 2018.

GM says they are going to be selling self-driving cars by 2018.

Given the success of the DARPA urban grand challenge, I think that's quite possible. The self-driving future is definitely coming. Just 10 more years to go!

Those sleep-deprived, multitasking drivers — clutching cell phones, fiddling with their radios or applying lipstick — apparently are involved in an awful lot of crashes.

Distracted drivers were involved in nearly eight out of 10 collisions or near-crashes, says a study released Thursday by the government.

That's 8 out of 10. You could demand all sorts of new laws be enacted but we need only one: No More Driving.

Bus Driver Fired for Playing GTA... While Driving!

A bus driver in the UK has been fired for playing GTA on his PSP while driving his bus! He was busted by his passengers who were more than a little unnerved by the screams of his virtual victims, which were evidently audible throughout the bus.

Needless to say, a self-driving bus would not be playing a PSP or doing anything else while driving. Safety: reason #1 for No More Driving.
